David Lesser could be any one of the creatures he creates. As laser meets steel, one can see his own personality taking on the form.
David's metal art evolves from his great love of nature. And what better place to observe Mother Nature first hand than the beautiful Olympic Peninsula in the Pacific Northwest.
David, his wife Marion and their two sons Jacob and Justin, live in the countryside surrounding Port Townsend, Washington. Port Townsend is an old Victorian seaport where the brine of old salts blends together with the creativity of artists in a peaceful and strange harmony.
Before his vision forged itself in steel, David experimented in various media carving animals out of wood, making whirligigs out of metal scraps, driftwood, or anything that would sit still long enough for David to grab it.
What makes his metal sculpture so unique is that he takes a two-dimensional object and magically transports it into the third dimension. What breathes life into them is the humor, the vision, and love of the artist.
"I like to make people chuckle," David says.
